Every sefer we work with undergoes an exacting process that begins with the scanning of the original text and ends with the publication of a new, upgraded version; an easy-to-read, beautifully printed edition. Below we detail each step.

Smart Scanning
Old texts sometimes present as faded lettering on aged, watermarked, thin, yellowing pages. This calls for a highly sophisticated, scanning device that can read the text. Torah sefarim, especially, require sensitive scanning software that recognizes the distinct usage of Talmudic expositions and does not automatically translate the text into modern, spoken Ivrit. Why is a thorough review of the scanned text essential?
Even with our sophisticated software, mistakes can still occur, due to misinterpretation of the text, or illegibility in the original text. Expert editors and proofreaders thoroughly revise the text several times, comparing it to the original, and making sure that the revised version is faithful to the original.

Proofreading
In Hebrew there's a saying, "There's no bar without drinking straws, and there's no book without typos." With that in mind, we offer our clients a comprehensive, final proofreading service, from the first page to the last. We compare the sefer to its original version and correct any spelling mistakes and typos. When necessary, we also add punctuation and vowelization (nikud.) Machon Totzaot's editors are experts at grammar and Hebrew usage and will greatly improve the language of the original, taking its writing level up a few notches.

Design & Layout
Machon Totzaot prides itself on its beautiful and professional graphic design service. We collaborate with outside experts, and invest much thought into creating a design that is best suited for each specific project.

Publication
Publishing a sefer is a world in itself. The first step is choosing a printing press that best suits your needs and budget. Then, it's time to work on the cover page design; the color and font style on the front and back cover pages. You'll also be asked what your preferences are as to the thickness of the pages, and the print quality. Machon Totzaot won't leave you to go it alone. We will offer you referrals and give our expert opinions, up until your sefer has rolled off the printing press and is ready for distribution.

Distribution
Your book has finally been published! We will now refer you to experienced, trustworthy distributors, who will do their best to make your sefer available for purchase in many parts of the world.
